Leadership:

• Worked with team of 3 senior and principal level developers to research, implement, and test the first fully-integrated, cross-platform design system at Southwest Airlines.
• Defined standards and documentation for design tokens usage, in both design and development contexts, and individually onboarded lead designers and developers in how to use design tokens. 
• Collaborated with UX team to build Figma components mapped to the same design tokens as used in the codebase, ensuring cross-platform styling consistency.
• Evangelized on purpose, progress, and benefits of design tokens and Figma adoption in multiple presentations to other teams, managers, and consulting partners.

Implementation:

• Stack: React | Sass | Storybook | Jest | GitLab | CI/CD | Figma
• Demonstrated multiple proof-of-concepts that were adopted as features & processes, including how to retrieve Figma Variables via REST API, how to output design tokens into stylesheets for use across web, iOS, and Android platforms, how to branch & merge in Figma using the same approval process as used in development, without allowing unexpected modifications to the original file, and how to define and implement new Figma variables such as gradients and typography.
• Implemented a new semantic color palette across web & native platforms, allowing all Southwest customer-facing platforms to reference a single source of truth for the first time.
• Built a multi-layered design token architecture modeled from Google’s Material Design, and implemented design token formatting across web & native platforms using 3rd party library Style Dictionary by Amazon.
• Audited all responsive web core component theme styles and defined them as design tokens within a single Figma design file, and am currently in process of refactoring all responsive web core components to use design tokens.
